How good is AMS oil my mechanic tells me that i should use that for my s2000 that it is what he is using. I never heard of this oil.
A couple notes:
1) Honda has recommended that it's best to wait until 10,000 miles before switching to a synthetic, like Amsoil. You can do what you want.
2) Honda has recommended to keep the factory fill oil in the car for the up to 7500 miles on one year (whichever comes first - and less under non-normal conditions), others agree, and yet others disagree. You can do what you want.
Roadrage did a comparison of several well-known oils. Amsoil generally came out on top. But it's really up to the user to determine which oil best meets his/her needs considering all aspects (including cost).
