Default Alpine 7" DVD roll-away, will it fit in the S2000?

I am considering installing a large amount of In Car Equipment (ICE) in my car. I would like to make the centerpiece Alpine's 7" widescreen dash mounted roll-away DVD player, item #: TEM-M790. I like this unit because it is rather compact being that the screen and DVD player fit in the existing slot for the radio. I have two concerns though.
1) Will the screen extend far enough out to clear the control panel for the climate controls? The screen can extend to three different settings of length. My friend who owns a speed shop told me the that the arms are long enough to clear the dash... but I still am uncertain.

2) As the screen is extending out of the chassis it pushes straight out then swivels upward. Will the top of the screen hit the shifter as if deploys? This of great importance. If need be I will put the car into 2, 4, or 6 to let it extend, but I am still not sure there will be enough room.

If anyone has any experience or incite on the topic please post up. Also, if anyone has scene this type of unit in an S2000 or it is in your car please let me know. Any input is greatly appreciated. I would like to have a lot of angles of thought before I go and drop an insane amount of money on this thing just to have it not fit.

Thanks in advance

The guys at Tweeter Audio here in NW suburbs of chicago said it's not possible. Not enough clearance. It might hit the shifter.. also, can't flip up since the dash above it sticks out so much. I liked it too... oh well. Just more toys to put in my other car i guess. I think Shaner did a custom install but cutting into the dash...

pbm317,
That's what I figured. Thanks for the reply.

As a suggestion for a fun but practical car I think the WRX may fit that description. My bro has one. Fast as hell, nice trunk with fold down seats, AWD and if you put a couple grand in the body they actually look pretty good.

you might consider cutting your dash and inserting the alpine near the passenger side above the stock headunit. i think shaner has some experience with this.

If I cut the dash I would only do it if I had the JDM mount for the GPS. The S is offered in Japan with GPS. A big LCD goes right in the dash with a plastic surround. If I could get my hands on the surround I might do it. Still, I will lose the clean minimalism of the dash and that's a big negative.

Call and talk to Dominic at Sound City Odyssey in PA. He woked on MikesS2K and it looks great! He took the 750 monitor and mounted like the JDM Nav. Alpine just released their new monitors and they also have an in dash DVD-CD-MP3 tuner.

For what its worth I looked at every pop out DVD on the market none of them will work. The problem is the angle of our dash. The only way to get past that is to install the player half way out of the bin (which looks like shit). Your only option is to put one in the dash like the Japanese models.

Thanks for the input guys. I just hope I can find a lead for the JDM GPS pod.
