Learn how to drive the car better (autocross or track school would be a good starting point) and replace the tires.
Oh, and get your car aligned to UK specs. A little toe-in in the rear works wonders.

I think that you were going too fast for the conditions, but another factor would be temperature. If you are drriving on summer tires in the cold, you can expect to slide.

My USDM S2000 definitely has some negative camber and it's 100% factory suspension and tire size.

Additional negative camber will help the car be more stable in cornering, but toe-in in the rear makes the rear much more stable on corner exits.
