So I'm in "car talk" on AOL. And the amount of american muscle car ignorance is astounding. No offense to glen, steve c, etc... but these people are what give cool guys like you bad names. I mean, no respect for what another person's car choice is. And the only thing they said was hondas have no torque, and the S2000 can never beat a mustang or any vette ever made, or any LT1 camaro. Oh yeah, and apparently "THEIR" LS1 camaro will beat an S2000 in a 1/4 mile by almost 3 seconds... lol. No matter what I said, they just kept saying that the S2000 is slow and would lose to any of their stock LT1's, mustang GT's, etc in both 1/4 mile AAAAAND on the track and handling.

Now I know why people murder. It's to control the population of idiots on the planet.

Oh yeah, and they kept saying... ok name one import in the same price range as a Z06 that can beat a Z06. (i left shortly after that so I never answered, though I couldnt think of anything off the top of my head cuz i was irritated)

It might just be my personal opinion, but I feel a good car club and car enthusiast has an appriciation for most cars, and evaluates those cars on much more than 1/4 mile times, and "good handling" or "bad handling" blanket statements.

Actually this sort of crap is pathetic but as a matter of interest, my son is just buying a 5.7 litre Z28 camaro and he's pulling my leg a bit. How quick are they?

LT1s and LS1s are quicker and LS1s are faster. They are also much easier to launch well consistently. Get over it. Our car has nothing to apologize for.

The real question is what were you doing on AOL.

Depends...if it's the 92 or older body style then it's prolly the L98 which is a fun engine to work on but is nothing in comparison to a S2k...Then there was between 93 and 97 that had the LT1's...these stock for stock are a little faster than the S2k but with a bad driver can be beaten... Then there is the 98-02 LS1's...I have owned two of these...both went 13.0 stock...Don't even try! Different kinds of cars my friend... Go out put the top down roar up to 9000RPM shifting though the gears like butter...that's a felling you ain't getting in your son's car...no matter what year it is...

Thanks for that!! He loves Yank cars. What can you do? I told him to get an Integra Type R. It's a new Z28 he's after, if not a very recent used one. I don't know much about those puppies, but it's the one with the air scoop in the bonnet. Wild horse wouldn't drag me out of the S now summer's coming

If the car he is getting has slits in the hood up by the windshield it's an LT1 and you should be able to beat him as long as you drive decent. If not, then it's an LS1 and you'll have a much harder time. Is he a decent driver??

Sounds like they totally miss what the S2000 is about. It's about doing more with less. Sure you can go 0-60 in 5.4 seconds with a 5+ liter V8 with 300+ HP, I'd like to see Ford, GM, or Chrysler do it with a N/A I4.

Just imagine if Honda decided to put out large displacement V8, would we see 720 HP? Probably not but still... I've driven the Camaro, Mustang and Vette. Hands down, none of those cars are as fun to drive as an S. It really depends on what you want a car to do (straight line or road coarse) and how much you can afford (30k or 50k).
