Default Allignment Advice

I'm about to order a set of KG/MM race springs. Can anyone recommend a reputable allignment shop in southern cali?? It would be ideal if they also do spring installs too.

I just did a search on this on the board. A lot of people recommended:

West End Alignment
Darin Nishimura
18008 South Vermont Ave.
Gardena, CA 90248
310-808-9233

Per prolene, For f/r alignment, S2000, = ~$75

Disclaimer: I don't have first hand experience w/ them (yet).

Cool. Let us know how your experience goes with West End/Darin and how you like the race springs! Are you sticking with the stock shocks?

Yup. Sticking wit stock shocks. Can't afford coilovers and prolly wouldn't use them to their potential. I'll post once the springs are installed.

Hey, is it true that you should wait a few weeks to let springs settle before getting an allignment???

I wholeheartly recommend that you go to any Sears auto center in S. Cali to have your alignment adjusted. I just did mine yesterday and my car drives like a dream. They have the best equipment and tools necessary to do the job right. If it makes you feel any better, they gave me a computer printout that specified the exact degrees of my toe, camber and etc before the alignment and what adjustments they did. It will shock you have good they are and what care they will take w/ your car. It will cost you about $52.99 for a 4 wheel alignment if I remember correctly. I had mine done at the Sears auto center located at the 60 fwy and Azusa if that helps.

R U serious?? I've never heard of anyone going to Sear for anything but appliances or a car battery. Also, I hear its a lot better without using a computer allignment system????

Did you just drop ur car Tony?? Do you have any idea of a reputable place for spring installs?

I'm pretty set on going with Westend since they guy has a lot of s2k experience and tells me he can get everything pretty close to stock even with kg/mm race springs. I hear the $75 is worth it. I'm just not willing to pay the $150-175 for an install ya know.

thanks

Uh....Sears does do cars. Yes I'm serious, hence the name "Sears Auto Center." What makes you think that a computer alignment system is bad??? I mean would you rather have a place that have the latest equipment and technology to accurately align your car or would you rather have your local mechanic "feel" and "eye" your car back into alignment. If it makes you feel any better, Sears gives you a 6 month guarantee on their alignment. If you want some more positive reinforcement, my car drives like a dream now (considering that I dropped the car 1 1/2 inches and the complete rear suspension was replaced due to a car accident I was in).

Regarding your question about me dropping my car, yes I did just drop my car. I used comptech adjustable springs. I should have gone w/ the the Kg/mm because I don't think that I will adjust the height much due to the fact that I must re-align my car everytime I do adjust the height of the car. $75 is a really good price but I doubt that the guy will be able to keep your car alignment stock w/ the springs. Even he says that he can get it "pretty close to stock," which basically means it will be different. You can ask anyone on this board and they will tell you that any drop will cause the car's alignment to go out of whack somewhat. This sounds like a pretty good sales pitch though. Anyways, if you want I would be happy to help you drop your car for free. We would just have to meet up during the weekend and the job will take approximately 1 hour (i'll bring all necessary tools). It would be more rewarding doing it yourself, just ask any S2k owner.

Tony, how hard is it to drop a car yourself?? I've watched a few times and it has taken guys at performance shops 2 hour plus. You must really know what you are doing huh?? Have you dropped a lot of cars?? Man, if you could help me, help myself, I'd love it.

Plus, this way I can let the car settle a lil bit before actually doing the allignment.

I wouldn't have sears adjust the alignment on my lawnmower!!!!!!!!! Those people are TERRIBLE! Maybe Tony had a good experience there, but you can find a LOT more people who will never, ever take their cars back!
