All You Guys With the Tanabe RM Exhaust...
I just installed my exhaust today, took about 1.5 hours. Most of that time was trying to figure out how to remove 2 rubber hangers...
Here's my question, does the exhaust come with something packed in the piping? I wanted to get the job done fast, and didn't bother to check inside the pipe itself. Reason I ask is because first, it seems like I LOST power, and second, theres this strong burning smell. I know that with new exhausts, the burning smell is natural, but this smell is particularly strong.
Maybe I'm just being paranoid.. I dunno. Just need to know so that I can rest easy. I don't want to take the thing apart again just to check. Thanks!!!

there may be residues in the exhaust piping that won't burn out for a while, depending on the manufacturer.
also, when you say you feel like you lost power, are you referring to the change in VTEC engagement or the entire power curve?

The entire power curve. I dunno... it just doesn't seem to pull as hard. Did all you guys with the Tanabe's experience this? Maybe theres a leak? If so, would it affect the power? How do I go about checking for leaks?

I originally said that I felt like I lost power. Maybe it was because I didn't reset the ECU after installing the exhaust? I noticed my Main't Required light blinking a couple of times today. Then the car felt a lot better. Maybe it was the ECU relearning itself with the exhaust?
Also, anybody know how to check for leaks in the exhaust system? I doubt there will be, but I just want to make sure.
