I'm getting a little uncomfortable driving in heavy rains here since I know someone who hydroplaned and smashed the rear of the car with stock tires. What's a good tire to drive with that won't compromise dry conditions too much, but add safety for heavy rains?

I have Potenza S03's and I love them. Great in the rain, and last longer than S02's

From all accounts the S03's are really good in the rain without too much loss in the dry. Sounds like a great compromise to me.

I'm using the XGT-Z4's. I use them year round, and except for softer side walls than I'd really like, they have been a very nice tire.
I don't track it, but I do push it when safe, and I've yet to break the tires lose.

I've even driven in the snow. I didn't like it,,, but it was OK.
