All S2k owners w/stolen seats slashed tops
Ok so Im posting this on my co-workers account
Last night my seats were stolen & they cut my softop to get in, was quite suprised since I live in a very safe neighborhood. But anyways I have a few questions that is going through my head right now. Please no smart asses or jerks, I'm taking this matter very seriously & would like to S2k community to help me out . I have full coverage btw
1) How much is my softop & seats worth? For you s2k owners with stolen seats/slashed top, how much did insurance compensate you?
2) Will insurace salvage my car? its currently a clean title right now & that would suck if it got salvaged
3) Did your rates go up? I know its not our fault that our property was stolen/vandilised but my friend is telling me that my rates will go up because of this
Thanks for your time

From everything I have read on these forums (lots of threads on the subject, just search for stolen seats), it is likely that your car will be salvaged because the cost of replacing your stolen seats is more that what insurance companies are willing to pay vs. the estimated value of an S2000. You might not want to report this to your insurance and just get the seats from someone on these boards. Much cheaper and no salvaged title in the end.
Edit: Also, if you end up keeping the car, get seat locks. $60-70 purchase that will save you from this hassle in the future.

Go on craigslist and flag S2000 seat ads.

Does anyone mark their seats somewhere hidden so you can identify them in the event they are stolen?
If everyone marked them with their s2ki username or something similar it would be easy to verify if a seat is stolen.

1) YOUR sliced top = $0. New Robbins top = $500-700 depending on options. Used seats have been going for less and less lately. Again, its hard to say (and not be a smartass) since you didn't say what year model you own.
2) Probably not.
3) I don't believe a comprehensive claim will make your rates increase. Then again, I think that can depend on your age(not listed), location (not listed), and claim history.

I would find some used seats as DaPhatty suggested. It would be a claim, and so you would be liable to pay a higher premium. Regardless of the fault or not, the theft demonstrates a higher risk on the insurance comps part to have to pay out, among other things.
Not to threadjack, but does anyone know the demographic of seats stolen? I'm assuming black would be the most sought after. I only ask because naturally I am concerned for my own seats, but they are tan.

Got my top slashed and seats stolen last month on a 2007 with 21,000 miles. Took it to a Honda dealer and the repair bill came out to $17,000. It was a borderline total loss but the insurance company paid for it with no salvage title. Picked up the car a week ago.
