Alignment dilemma
#21
Chris,
I have recently (with in the last 4000 miles) noticed the things you've mentioned above. My car seems to grab a new line without notice, and it's difficult to correct. It seems that everytime I correct, it's a little too much, no matter how slight the correction.
I'm also getting a barring sound from the rear (I believe). It's highly noticeable, especially from outside the car.
An experienced Honda mechanic/friend of mine noticed that my tires had a sharp ridge on the leading side of the treads. He called this "cupping". Said that it was due to alignment issues.
I took it to a shop he recommended, and the guy said he adjusted the toe on the front a little, and scolded Honda for making a car without rotatable tires! I laughed it off.
He also said that the barring sound can only be fixed with new tires.
Now I'm really confused. I don't think my local dealer would be much help either.
The adjustment he made slightly helped the oversensitive nature of the steering, but not tremedously.
