Default The ALEX engine torque damper

The Alex Engine Torque Damper reduces engine movement under on/off throttle conditions such as gear shifts. Consequently, engine power is more directly transferred the wheels and wheel hop is reduced. The reduction of wheel hop is particularly noticeable on the RSX's first to second gear shift. The torque damper is made from CNC aluminum and chromoly steel. The damper itself consists of ABS plastic enclosed in a CNC aluminum sleeve. The plastic is compressed upon when the engine moves under load. The torque damper is compatible with engine mount upgrades and is highly recommended for high horsepower cars.

So...does anybody have this? how is it compared to J's Racing engine damper? It sounds like the J's use nylon for flexing and these use plastic...is that the only major difference? i like the "tein-looking" green better than orange...

Alex or J's?

I dont have one, but I will vouch they make a BIIIIIIIIG difference. HUGE difference. I installed one in my friend;s RSX and the difference is big. The motor vibrations are greater while standing still, but MUCH less when you are moving.

Keep in mind the differences you felt on an RSX may have to do with it being FWD. The device pictured sure looks like it's based on a steering damper you'd find on a sportbike..

The wheels driven do not matter with engine dampers. The engine will move a little bit, regardless of what wheels are driven. The one on the RSX looks the same, except its gold.

Except for green anodizing instead of gold, the Alex damper appears to be identical to a J's piece. I bet they are made by the same supplier for both.

for the J's racing torque dampner/heatshield, you'll need some adjusting at least for my MY02. i've adjusted the heatshield to fit and also the ac line. easy to install but time consuming for the fittings. it's a world of difference with them dampners.
picky...
