Alaniz Headwork
hi, I am thinking of getting Alaniz Headwork done on my car. The package I am thinking to get is:
Competition Head Work
Starting at $1850.00
Complete visual inspection of complete head.
Check all surfaces for straightness.
Complete disassembly.
Inspect all valvetrain parts for wear.
Remove all studs and lap all surfaces.
Degrease and clean head of oils.
Baseline flow bench test.
Full Competition port and polish head.
Deshroud, polish and debur all chambers.
Install oversize seats on intake side.
Install oversize valves on intake and exhaust.
Competition valve job.
Resurface and hand lap head to customer specs, or up to .030 material removal.
Final flow test with data sheet.
Reassemble complete head. Final CC check.
Includes new valve seals.
Titanium retainers add $225.00, Bronze guides add $304.00 includes labor. Inner spring/locator kit add $224.00
Get all the parts/services mentioned above, pay a discounted price of $2300.00 save $300.00
ALSO
Manifold Work
F20C1 Manifold Work Starting at $225.00 (LABOR ONLY)
Throttle Body Match Up, Polish Runners for improved flow, Lap surfaces when applicable. Clean, straight forward work.
WHAT KIND OF HORSEPOWER GAINS SHOULD I EXPECT FROM THIS?? CAN I GET 40-50 HP WITH THIS?? I REALLY DON'T KNOW MUCH ABOUT THESE THINGS SO PLEASE DON'T MAKE FUN OF ME...
BTW IS IT BETTER TO SAVE MORE TO GET A SUPERCHARGER INSTEAD...

well...you sure as hell wont gain 40-50whp. I actually plan to do this sometime in the distant future.
How much you gain probably depends on other mods and how good of a tuning system you have, as well as how good of a tuner you go to. ie the Alaniz/Church combo is great...but being in FL you can't really take advantage of that.
I'd say the MOST you could ever hope to gain with headwork is 20whp. More realistic gain is probably close to 10. If you are all about what gets the most hp, then yes FI gets much bigger numbers there. However, on the track, the N/A guys tend to be the quickest even with 100 less hp. not always, but more often then not.

If you're specifically looking to increase your car's power output by THAT much, then forced induction (SC or Turbo) is the way to go IMO.
Forced induction has been proven to have a much better HP-to-dollar ratio than by going all-out NA, especially with these engines.

what about just getting the manifold work, and also getting the throttle body cored after getting the supercharger?? Where can I get this done in Florida?? Does anybody know any place?

Well, Alaniz is only in the LA area (Cali)...you could ship your head to them to have them work on it of course. For just the manifold work...maybe it'll help, don't know how much. Be the first to try it. again I wouldn't expect much from this car.

If the F20 wasn't one of the best flowing heads -ever-, I'd be very hopeful for some good-sized gains. But, this is a poor place to start if you're just now trying to figure out how to make horsepower, especially on a per dollar basis.
40-50 hp is a space shot.
