Default Airbox Gutting

Will I increase the flow of air into my airbox by gutting the inner wall and taking out the funnel elbow which is attached to the top inner part of the airbox cover/lid? I currently have a Comptech foam/sponge air filter and a CF cooling plate with airbox scoop already installed. Also, will this create a nice cold air intake sound and gain me a few HP?

I doubt that it will give you the sound you want. As long as the lid is on, much of the sound will be kept within. Without the divider and the tube on the lid, you will be able to allow more air into the box, but here's the big question:
Does the engine actually need anymore air than what it already gets with the stock box? If it gets what it needs, making more available won't benefit much. So, I guess what I'm saying is no, I doubt this will give you a few more HP.

Ok, did you take out the elbow too? How do I cover up the hole? How did you do it? Which hole are we talking about? Got pics?

Most do this when they get a snorkel. I don't know if there's any benefit doing so with the stock air horn.

If you want more sound, you have to block off the entrance of the resonnance chamber;will be a little louder, but nothing compared to an AEM,or Injen.

Have a look at this:

See how the lid comes off? Now see the part that looks like the lid but didn't come off (right end of airbox)? That's the sound chamber. If you look down into the chamber that the filter lives in, you'll see the hole that leads to the sound chamber.

How long have you owned this car and never looked at your airbox close enough to see that extra chamber?
