Default Air conditioner question

seems appropriate now that it's 18 degrees outside. I recently purchased the car and am still discovering these little things.

I noticed the otherday, when turning the heat on in the car, the a/c button is still lit. however i press the button, it still stays lit. Is this normal operation?

Heat still comes out of the vents fine. i even turn it down b/c it gets too hot. Thanks.

Yes, the air conditioner runs with the defrost - it pulls the moisture out of the air.

Normal while on either defrost setting.

It can be "disabled" in the sense that you will be able to turn off A/C if you want to.
