haha, get off his back guys, maybe he has a little cousin or something that is going to be riding along with him a lot and he doesnt want the kid to be injured from air bag cause they are too small....everyone has different needs for different things, but anyway i would not recommend taking out the airbag you're friends may be correct that you will have a CEL on for a long time cause the computer is programmed with having airbags in its system and it may start to react because they are not there, its most definetly legal to not have airbags when the car comes without them stock, because i have one at home with no airbags, except for maybe the steering wheel, but i think it may be illegal to take them out afterwards, i dont know, check it out with your state's laws

your friend is right.
take out air bag and "srs" light will be turned on all the time.
a lot people with aftermarket steering wheel experience this a lot.
you can get a transistor that "tricks" the car so that you won't get the srs light on with airbag removed.
any good reputable aftermarket steering hub/boss includes the transistor.
i use "aluminum formation" (identical to taitec) steering hub from autobacs, it included the transistor.
