On a dyno you apparently lose power with the cover off. In the real world I personally run faster 1/4 mile times with it off. I havent had it on in months. People argue that it bogs the engine down to have it off. If you arent racing then who cares. If you are racing then you are sidestepping at 7k so its not a problem anyway. Who launches during a race from idle?

I can feel a small dip in responsce at 4000-5000rpm in performance from the removal of the air box cover, but there is a lot more weight in my car then most S2000's and I am hyper sensative to this stuff. I do not feel any loss of HP or that the car feels slower then normal.

You might want to look at the K&N system, it has the same sound and the filter is located up high where no or little water can get into it.
