Aftermarket Springs
Hello,
I am currently in the market for a set of lowering springs, probably espilir (SP?) and i was wondering how much they will affect the handling of the car. (i drive an 04). do they actually make the car handle better or are they just cosmetic? Also, for further upgrades down the road would it be a good idea to throw on some Koni yellows instead of a full coilover set? THANKS!

I kept the stock springs on my 04 and instead went with the adjustable Koni's that allow a half inch drop. I was worried about too stiff springs, especially in the back, and most kits increase the rear rate above the front. Instead I upgraded the sway bars, went with slightly aggressive wheel off-sets, and wider wheels and tires.
I may not have the height adjustability (I really wasn't interested in a big drop anyway), but the performance outcome has been great. Oversteer is easier to control, straightline launches are more stable (without wheel hop or major tire spin), cornering is better, and the ride, while stiff with my shock settings, is still close to stock.
Otherwise I can't speak for kits, although one day I'd like a car with a different setup to feel the difference.

Neuspeed sport springs. I just installed it last week and had an alignment. It's almost like riding on a stock springs, just a lil' bit more stiff. It lower 1 and 1/4 inch which I think is perfect. The car is sitting real nice right now with stock wheels and OEM front lip. I would recommend going with this set up if you don't have the cash to front for the springs and shock. Later on just add Koni Yellow or Blistein non-adjustable shocks and you're in good shape.
