No, it's the same size as the factory one with the glass back only it doesn't have a defrost in it. The kit comes with the stuff to modify the frame to make it work with the glass top. I think the "mod" is only a few extra straps that pull it a different way. The guy goes by the screen name "decker." I don't know if he's on s2ki though.
No offense, but I'm not sure I agree with that. Maybe it's just the angle the picture was taken at.

But it looks like there's a more material between the bottom edge of the glass and the body of the car. That strip looks wider than on the OEM top.

Just wondering.

Now that I am looking at them side by side I hope your picture is a bit washed out intrpeid, because that top is not nearly as dark as the one in the other picture i found.

Also I am curious if not overlapping the glass at the bottom like the OEM top is going to have a negative effect for water runoff.

Hmnmm, the side by side pictures help a lot. The amount of material between the glass and bodywork looks pretty much the same. The OEM glass looks like it's got some framing there that the soft top material attaches to underneath. As apposed to the cloth attaching to the glass directly as it appears in the after market version.

To me, that's giving the illusion that the glass is larger on the OEM when in fact, it's not, or at least not much. I just got up and looked at my car. The proportions are the same although the pictures make that strip of material look larger than it really is.

If there's a difference, it's certainly not worth worrying about. Thanks for the clarification.

Hello Campbuds,
your not seeing it in the pictures, but top does overlap the window section, it's the same as the picture you posted.

Vic,

Actually I called Robbins about this today to do some research. I was supposed to be receiving an email from Tony there who said he knows you real well.

They use a special sealing process that is extremely reliable and pretty well air tight. There is no reason to believe water could leak nor will water linger there.

I thought about that too when I first saw it. It's pretty permanant though. I seriously doubt it would come apart or leak. The seal is very well done.
