Default Aftermarket Differentials for S2000s?

The car already comes with an LSD, why would people upgrade it? I'm clueless

Because the stock rear drivetrain isn't very robust and when you go FI and start making significant power it will fail.

And if you lift a rear wheel under hard cornering the Torsen LSD won't work...sends power to the lifted wheel.

Thats why you see people using those 1.5-way LSDs. Those will lock harder and differently. It takes some getting used to (as the car reacts different during hard turns). Also, those LSDs require maintenance from time to time. Torsen LSDs don't require much maintenaince

Because Honda has made like 3 rwd cars ever and doesn't know how to build a stout rear end.

if honda put a 400hp motor in the car the diff would be able to take it you dont make a light car by over designing parts

That statement isn't necessarily correct. The C6 Z06, which makes 505hp @ the flywheel, has a "weak" drivetrain as well. This is one of the first upgrades owners do if they drag race their cars a lot.

i never said gm was capable of designing anything ... I was just pointing out that the factory diff is basically perfect for a factory motor (or most na upgrades) my car is making 227 at the wheels on a dyno dynamics dyno (197 stock) and i have had no problems with my diff, to give you an idea of how hard i drive my car i have gone through two sets of tires in the last 8000 miles... when my rears are worn to the point i wont drive with them in the rain anymore i take my car to a parking lot and practice drifting until cords are showing

if you diff breaks on a stock or close to stock car on an s2000 you either didnt change the oil soon enough or you need to learn how to drive
