After checking local pricing on craigslist, you should be able to ask 20-21k for your car alone, + 2-2.5k for hardtop.
Again, those are ask prices. People don't necessarily bid and deal there. I know I sound like an @$$ here, but I'm just trying to align your expectations to reality. People ask for 33K for an 07 on autotrader.com, but that doesn't mean anything.

I'm not saying the OP should lower the ask price from 20K; I'm merely saying that one should expect to close a deal at 18.5K level for his car without the HT (I didn't realize he had the HT earlier). I don't want the OP to hold on to the car trying to find a higher bid when someone says he's willing to pay 18.5K. Then next thing that happens, is that summer passes and the car is another year older because the 2009 models are out. Now the OP would have lost money on insurance payments, other running costs and end up with a car that's worth even less. People often forget about the cost of carry or ownership, and the continuing depreciation when selling cars.

S2000s are so abundant nowadays that prices are very transparent. If we are talking about an Enzo, or car that has so little transparency in pricing, then I could understand why one would pay a premium for it. Not the S2000 though ...

It's just like selling a home ... except there is actually an upside to homes (well, maybe not now ...), whereas the car depreciates by the day.

Nevertheless, good luck to OP selling his car.

Great point, I completely agree
