Advice to prevent over revving?
Hi. It terrifies me to think that one brief mistake, a misshift, can absolutely ruin our engine. Can some of the more experienced members give tips regarding how to absolutely prevent a misshift that overrevs the engine?

I have a gun and one mistake with the trigger can kill a person. Can someone give me some tips on how to absolutely prevent me from killing someone?
Seriously, you can ruin the engine in any manual transmission car the same way with a misshift. You can also ruin the car by driving off a cliff. My advice is you are in control of the car and you must be aware and careful. Drive within your abilities. I could tell you to never drive faster then 40 mph to prevent a misshift but then you might shift into reverse. To absolutely prevent it, then get a different car with an automatic transmission.

Let the shifter do its job. Give it some pressure to the left when shifting into 1st or 2nd. The centering springs will line up 3rd and 4th. Some pressure to the right when shifting into 5th or 6th. Don't man handle it and you'll do fine!
