This should help prevent you from accidentally shifting into 2nd in the future.

Full list of techniques here.

Get a compression and leak down TEST immediately. Sometimes a minor bent valve will not display a CEL. 5K-10K later, it will.

<5% leakdown and you're golden.

That's what the rev limter is there for. You're fine. Just don't let it happen again.
Wrong. You should know better by now...

Some say that the AP2 retainers dont really stretch, that if they fail its catastrophic and theres no waiting time involved, as the AP1 retainers.

I'd still pull the valve covers off and check!

like everyone has stated, your rev limiter doesn't protect the engine when you mechanically overrev. this is called the "money shift." it happened to me once, and i had to replace the retainers and the valves. i would suggest you get a leak down test, and check compression. while ap2 retainers are known to resist more stress than those of ap1's, there's still that possibility of bending valves. right now your car may seen fine, but these kinds of incidents usually create a ticking time bomb. get it checked.

Learn not to get so rattled by the endless pool of crappy drivers yapping on cell phones .Keep your composure in a calm cool manner and consciously downshift to an appropriate gear and blow his doors off.

According to the graph I have on my computer.
Ap2
2nd Gear 8,000rpm ~ 57mph
2nd Gear 10,000rpm ~70 mph

My feeling is that you're probably ok. However, I highly recommend that at minimum do a compression test and check your valves.

i did this to my '00 Celica 3 times... unfortunately I was redlining 3rd each time, went to grab 4th and stuck it in 2nd.

Rev limiter is only a fuel cut, dude doesn't know what he's talking about.

You need to go get the head inspected ASAP (especially the valves and retainers). If there was any contact with the valve and the piston, you've got your work cut out for you. Thankfully, the F22 is fairly capable of going 9500rpms without much damage, but you might have gone over even that if you were doing 70 and stuck it in 2nd.

The least you should do is get the head inspected. Like said before, there may not be any problems right now, but later down the road something might fail due to this and you'll have a bigger problem on your hands.
