Another Hot & Very Humid day in Louisville......Had the AC on Full Blast for about an hour with the top and windows down. Once arriving at my destination my passanger noticed a wet spot on the right side floor mat directly under the evaporator. I checked the hose it looked good and there was water all over the driveway so I know some water is draining through the hose. Anybody else experience this or do I have a major problem?

 

The water on your driveway is normal. The water in the foot well is NOT. You've got a leak somewhere.

 

I agree with xviper in that this is not normal. Yes, I think that you have a "small" problem. (A "major" problem would be a blown engine.) It's good to keep things in their proper context, especially when you are relaying this problem to your dealer (don't get too worked up over this).

I have had this problem on the last two cars that I had. One had a plugged drain tube (yours sounds OK) and the other had a bad gasket around the evaporator (this may be your problem). At any rate, this is no big deal. Just don't use the AC until it's fixed. I don't use mine any way.

I signed on today for the sole purpose of seeing if anyone else experienced this problem. Today 95degrees+ HUMID, top down with a/c on, my wife as co-pilot, advises me water is dripping right in the middle of the passenger side mat. I'm calling my local dealer tomorrow. Haven't checked to see where it is coming from, but certainly this isn't normal. I'll post their response. Meanwhile, all passengers must wear rubber boots.

There is a TSB on the passenger side AC leak -- the library on this site has it -- but as you are aware the search function is DEAD ---
I had the TSB done and it did reduce the leak on the passenger side -- but my wife informed me that it still leaks a bit on her feet ... but not as much as last summer.

 

Why isn't this a normal response to high humidity, topdown, AC on conditions?
Won't the evaporator continuously have condensation on it's surface in high humidity conditions? Unless I put the top up, mine will also drip onto the floormat.

 

I think this is more condensation than a leak. I live in one of the most humid populous cities in the world, and all of my cars have had at least one-drop leaks if you run the ac and put the windows down.
