Default About the Comptech S/C

I would like to superchrage my S very soon with a Comptech S/C. I need to know what does it means this (I read it at the Comptech website)

Requires $400 for a core charge for the factory crank pulley,
which will be refunded upon return of a undamaged
stock crank pulley
Cause of my poor english, I really can't understand what does it means. Would you try to explain me like I'm a kid of 7 years?

What is the "CRANK PULLEY"?

It means that Comptech will charge you $400 extra until you return to them your original pulley that is on your vehcile right now. The S/C kit comes with a pulley that will replace the one you have. The crank pulley is the pulley that is connected to your crank.

Maybe you should do some research on cars and S/C in general before you purchase one. Its nice to know and understand what you have.

I've never understood this, seeing as how a new crank pulley is $63...

I think the higher price for the core charge is just to insure that you will return the pulley to them. If it was only a $63.00 charge, I'm sure some people might over look the return shipping.

What do they (Comptech, Vortech) do with the returned pulley? Is it referbished and sold with new SC's? Just curious. . .

but why does comptech care in the first place? surely they can buy a bunch of crank pulleys at less than retail, and just stock pile them... seems like a pita.

Maybe they make ashtrays, coasters, and plates with the old pulleys! I mean, who wouldn't buy a Comptech drink coaster?

For the original poster:
Here is a picture of the supercharger pulley, which is bolted to the crank pulley (has the belt running around it). Comptech takes a stock crank pulley and drills it with holes to match the supercharger pulley.
