7500 RPM's?

Can someone tell me if there is any known reason why the S2000 might cut out when cold and hitting around 7500 rpm in a low gear (1st or 2nd)??
I know its setup to cut out at 9000 rpm's, but 3 times now I took off very quickly, watching the RPM's and had the throttle disengage at 7500 rpm's. Either my tach is wrong or the sensor is cutting off too early?
Has anyone experienced a similar problem?

It's not a problem, it's there to prevent over-rev'ing on an engine that isn't warm enough. You need to have 3 bars on the temp gauge before you should hammer on it...
Warm that engine before you pound on it. That means, get three bars...get all the oil, water and other temps up to speed THEN hit it...before then, you are not doing any good to your engine at all...!!

It's not a problem. The ECU is programmed to use a rev. limiter when the engine is cold, and the VTEC change over will not occur. It's best to wait for the temperature gauge to read three squares or bars before running into VTEC range. I usually stay below 5000 RPM when the engine is cold.
This is a well documented occurrence.

Thanks everyone. I didn't know that, but I was hoping it was due to the cool engine. It sometimes takes a lot of go to take off quick enough to get out of my companies parking lot without getting hit :-) Now I'll remember to warm it up some. Thanks again..
