Default $$725 To Paint a Hard Top?

Honda in Torrance, Ca just quoted me $725 to paint a hardtop. I was expecting maybe $300, but $725????? Geeezzz. Sounds like a total ripoff to me.

Around $300 was the estimate that I got to match and repaint the hardtop on my BMW Z3, which is about the same size and complexity as the top on the S2K. I would try a few more shops.

Well dealers charge $100 for a glorified oil change....are you really that suprised that they would charge $700+ to paint the HT?

For $725 do they at least give you a choice of color?
Sounds a bit steep.

Honda is charging $700 because what they're going to do is contract the paint job out to a local bodyshop ... have them paint it for ~$400 and then pocket ~$300 out of it.

Cut out the middle man and go direct to your local bodyshop. It shouldn't be $725, but $300 sounds a little low too depending on your location of course.

i work at body shop and my estimate came out around $500, if u pay cash we probably lower the price.($400~$450)
so $700+ sounds bit steep

I had my HT done at a Honda dealer near Austin. They charged me $450 for the HT and an Amuse lip. Figure it was ~$375 for the hardtop or so.

I would say so...considering that there is not all that much prep work involved (no paint to be stripped?), $700 is rediculous.

I think there is some paint to strip. I don't know of hardtops coming w/o paint from Honda. Only if it's Mugen, Seibon, etc. will there be no paint to strip.

To the person who had the Amuse lip painted also - I think $450 is an AWESOME deal. Normally lips are about $125 or so alone, right??
