You mention the very reason a Jet gear set makes perfect sense to me. I couldn't believe it when I read we have TWO overdrive gears (5th & 6th) but it goes along with an attempt at high gas mileage (ha ha, like I'll every get 24 MPG, more like 22 going downhill with a tailwind). I have no real need for 150+ MPH top end but a real desire for better standing 0-60 times. Gear-me-up to speed!

Speak for yourself. Sometimes I find myself looking for a 7th gear to shift into!
And correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't believe we have two overdrive gears. 5th gear is pretty close to 1:1 and 6th gear is approximately a 20% overdrive.

I use my 6th speed quite often, in fact each time I drive on European motorways, from 200kmh (124mph), I shift into 6th and cruise along...
I pushed the 5th to 143mph also...

great responses- thanks!
yup, never thought of reading the owners manual!!
isnt that what this board is for!?
thanks again...
will be testing out my dual overdrives this afternoon-
(and wishing i could use 6th for the other reason, but wont likely find a spot to open it above 130 mph or so).

Ah France, where even a relatively unagressive driver like me can get a Citroen Saxo up over 160kph on the autoroute, as I did last summer.

Mind you, 160kph is nearly ok, they start to put fines at a rumoured 153kph (I've passed cop cars at about that speed without problems).

I never use 4th or 5th unless high speed testing. By the time I am running out of third gear I am already breaking all known US traffic laws and I just shift into 6th and cruise.
