I haven't ruled out driver error on at least 1/2 of my 8 grinds. This shifter is so quick that I think my clutch action is sometimes mis-timed. I've driven Honda manuals for many years without grinds.

In many respects, the S2000 requires diligence...that's why I wanted one in the first place!

I have had it also on my MY2001. But I think it was due to not fully engaging the clutch. Sometime's I get lazy after a full day of work It does certainly wake you up, and not very impressive when your trying to show your "driving" abilities to that hot blonde sitting in the seat next to you ya!!!! Seriously, I notice that it happens when the car is running 'hot', it seems like it is more likely to grind without fully depressing the clutch all the way in. I have also noticed that when it does grind, I then fully depress the clutch in and double clutch it, and on occasion I still get a bit of a grind. I noticed this the other day...

Ive had my MY2001 for about 7 mos. I have grinded about 10 times. At first, i thought it was driver error. But i have done tests where I made certain i have depressed the clutch and pulled into 2nd only to hear that dreaded grind. As Cdelena says, usually after spirited driving, then stopping for a bit at a stoplight or convenience store, the next 1-2 shift is mostly likely to grind.

It isn't frequent enough to bother me, but when shifting at the redline, I now make sure i have that pedal all the way in. May consider a TSB b4 warranty is up.

I don't know whether my grinds were driver error, but in the first month, I had maybe 4 grinds, in the last month...maybe 2.

Last night, I auto-x the car for the first time and didn't even think about the grinding issue -- never happened. I was in between 1st and 2nd a LOT at high revs.

So, either I am used to the shift and driver error is declining, or its going away on its own.

(have a 2001)

p.s.: Correct me if I am wrong, but does not the term "model year" refer to the first year of a set of years within which the model is relatively unchanged? That is to say, my 2001 is a 2000 model-year S2000...
