He is thinking of his next post....."does a normal tire fit in the trunk?"

I put $500 down and lease for 48 months at $399. I like the low payment.

Sorry guys, I was flying back from NJ yesterday and didn't have time to respond. Thank you for all the great information. It does seem like too much money to spend on a car that I will not own in 3 years.

I am going to pass on this "deal." Thank you for all your help!

[QUOTE=happs22,May 26 2005, 01:39 PM] When I financed my car back in Dec. '02 I was offered $1500 down and $350/month for 36 months, on a leased 2004.

Zero down, 4 yr lease, 12K miles - $355/month + tax (9% on a lease in PA) =386.xx. I got this deal on a 2003 model, in Jan of 03 in PA where there is snow and slow S2K sales. I found the best deal I could on S2ki, turned out to be a buy in Chicago for like 29,500 or something. I asked them to give me 4 yr lease numbers via email, with the "3500 off" a lease just like it would be off the buy. They emailed me the above numbers and were ready to deal. I literally printed up the email, took it to the Harrisburg Honda dealer, wrote my phone # on it, and gave it to the 1st salesman I saw. I said I am going to lease this car, but would prefer to keep my business local. If you can match, then get me a suzuka blue one. If you are A PENNY HIGHER, I will just keep my business with the CHI dealer - a 1 way flight is like $120, no big deal. Literally 5 minutes in the dealership - he said "let me talk to my manager, wait here", I said "oh hell no - call me within 3 days, not a penny higher or dont waste my time", and out I walked. Message 1 day later was we are there to the penny, when would you like to pick up your suzuka... Got it in late Feb 03. Easiest of my many leases, and a great deal.

Here's the issue as I see it, Cars.com probably gets its residual value stats from a similar if not the same place as Honda does for calculating the lease. Currently, Cars.com lists the 05 S2000 residual value at 18500. Seems way low to me, but this helps show why the lease cost is so high.
