$400 bux to spend
#13
My friend and I could install the gears without a problem, I just don't want to buy them if I cannot tell a difference when driving. Can somebody that has these gears let me know what kind of differences I'd experience? Also--The 400 dollars is for the products; I have a bit more because I thought ahead of time about installation. (not too much, but enough im sure).

Let's see... The new ring+pinion will give you more thrust in each gear. But that's offset somewhat in that you you'll have to upshift a lot sooner. The overall "peppiness" feel of the car will be enhanced, but acceleration improvements will depend on the specific speed range you're looking at. In some cases, the stock car will be faster, in others the car with 4.77 gears will be.
If you autocross a lot, you'll likely hate the new gears - instead of most courses being a simple 2nd gear run, you'll likely have to shift to 3rd three times or so. Therefore lap times will not show much of an improvement, if any.
For 400 dollars, you can get:
- Race tires
- CG-Lock
- Hi-perf brake pads
- Some sort of intake
- VAFC

Man, I've got to get into the snake oil ... um, I mean "performance" business. You can sell some people anything, just by telling them it will "give them the 1/4 mile time of a S/C car".
My suggestion: get Emil to offer you a money-back guarantee.
