Not to sound like an ass, but how about we don't go by what the butt dyno tells you. Hook up a vtec light (even just temporarily) if you really want to know for sure. I believe it's 1 wire to the vtec solenoid and 1 to ground. When you hit vtec she lights up like a Christmas Tree on the 4th of June.

And it's not that you have to be WOT, but the throttle has to be open enough to allow increased airflow. Is there no one who knows for certain how, if any differently, vtec works in the s2k?
So on my way home from work, I definitely had the car in vtec with mid-throttle only, just letting the revs climb. It didn't seem to engage at low throttle though.

I'm not using a butt dyno here, I'm using my ears to hear and body to feel if the cams change over. When I start telling you my hp readings at different throttle levels THEN you can use that argument with me

Meh I dunno about my idea, in the spring I'll convince my buddy who made the statement/complaint about his 4.77s and try it out. We'll see how convincing I can be and I'll let ya know

Happy Halloween!!!!

I had 4.77s and you definatly do not have to be going that fast in 6th to be in VTEC

At least you see partly what I mean about needing to have the throttle open a bit more, not necessarily WOT. But if you're cruising at a constant speed you can see how you're likely not to be in vtec because when you're cruising at a constant speed you're not on the throttle very much, and if you are, perhaps it's a good time to shift

I use butt dyno as a pretty generic term, not necessarily meaning you're feeling everything through the seat

With that said, and no one opposing what was said about vtec operation, I assume no change in the rules of vtec between b-series and f-series (same 5 conditions apply).

Thanks for razzin on your car for research purposes Can't wait until I have a chance to do the same. Love my gsr, but want an s2k pretty badly.
