4.57R or CTSC w/o A/C
Alright...
Got enough saved up for the CTSC (about $4500 when all is said and done, even w/ the GB price (TAX)). From what I've been reading though, I've drawn the following conclusions...
4.57R
Pro's::
Cost ($1300)
Speed
Strength
Simplicity
Stealth
Con's::
Power. Doesn't make anymore.
Higher Revs on freeway.
CTSC
Pro's::
Lots of power
Coolness factor
Speed
Con's::
Not Simple
Cost ($4500)
Possibly stresses motor
Looking for input? Can anyone tell me how much faster a CTSC S2k out of the box would be than an S2k w/ 4.57R? Even roughly. Looks like low 13's are possible for 4.57R with a good launch. I've heard that high 12's are possible with CTSC, but I doubt that's out of the box and probably with a smaller pulley.
Thanks!

Here's my .02 cents...and I'll caveat it by stating that I am not an expert here...
1. The 4.57-R FD is a great way to make your car faster. All of your pro's are correct. Concerning your con's, no, it doesn't make more power but it does enhance your acceleration so you could equate it to a power mod.
2. The CTSC is a good mod if you are looking for some additional power. Concerning your pro's, it does not provide you with "lots of power" but a fair amount. Concerning your con's, it is a simple install and doesn't put too much additional stress on the engine.
3. If you have the money, do both...even if you have to save up some more. You can always do one mod now, and the other mod when you have enough money.
4. Supposively the 4.57-R FD will knock ~.5 seconds off your 1/4 time. If the S can do the 1/4 in 13.8-14.1, it should be able to do it in 13.3-13.6. A CTSC will easily get you to the low 13s...high 12s if you are a great driver. Buy a set of DRs and you will be in high 12s for sure.

Didn't realize CTSC would get me that close to 12's... Will have to rethink...
Looks like you have the 4.57R, how do you like them? Is first gear spin, second gear chirp? (I chirp second stock when it's cold, but still...)
Thanks!

Concerning the gears, I get my car back this Saturday. Can't tell you anything about them yet...

be like me and get both which work wonderfully together, and the extra rpm from the gears doesn't bother me as the s2000 is a high reving car anyways......

keep in mind he's talking about the comptech WITHOUT the aftercooler. this will NOT be able to break 12's out of the box, and is NOT as fast as the comptech WITH the aftercooler.
from my experience: i can keep up with a CTSC WITH AC from a stop to about 60-70mph. after that they start to walk away. (i have 4.57 gears)
