Default 303 Protectant removes interior finish

Just wanted to warn folks to be careful with the 303 Aerospace Protectant on the metal trim around the shifter. It removed the finish on mine in one spot, so I went ahead & removed all the finish with the 303 to make it one tone. The non-finished metal is shinier and lighter than the original but, IMO, doesn't fit the color scheme of the interior as well as the original finish. I don't normally use the 303 there but it was on the rag at the time so...

Thats scary. Concerns me what it could do to others areas around the dash. Think I may just use it on the outside from now on too.

Thanks for the warning! I'll just use it for my dash from now on...

WOW - I have been using 303 on the interior for 2 years now and have not seen any issues - I guess I'm luck - regardless, I don't think I'll use it on that area.

Thanks for the heads-up.

i have a suspicion that the finish on the "brushed" metal plastic pieces are different on the '00-'01 than the later ones.

I used 303 on the interior of my baby for the first time in the spring. I now have the finish peeling for the first time!

Now I know why. Thanks.

I spray 303 on a towel and then rub/wipe the towel over interior surfaces (dashboard, upper door panels etc.) minimizing getting the 303 on other areas. Seems to work for me and have not observed any discoloration.

As someone said above, the finish only comes off on the 00 and 01 models. They redesigned the 02 03 ones.
