Hey, Wisconsin... Do you guys have an active local S2000 community up there? Here in New England, the guys get together a few times a year and we do fluid changes and other things during tech days... See if you can hook up with those folks.
Well charlie (jahnke) was a good knowledgeable person to have around, but he's not moving back to milwaukee for a little while yet.

I'll have to ask johnny 2k if he has done his own diff fluid or not. Other than that, I dont know any other wisconsin owners who might be able to lend a hand.

For driving distances neither are we.
Okay, change it to "in the UK, we're on 9,000 mile intervals..."

So whats the US interval?

wow mount ranier. must be beautiful out there. i'm going to wake the dragon, and this will be my first mountain-area type experience. can't wait to see what it's like.

that's the main reason I want to get the diff fluid changed before I head out there. it sucks cuz I can't even change my own oil since our apartment land owners have a policy against it.

At least they let me wash and wax it. sheesh.

thanks for the offer pwrmkr. i'll look ya up if i'm ever out there.

Actually me and my girlfriend might be making a trip up to mall of america this summer. I'll have to keep you in mind as well! Always possible to get together, learn something about my S, and make a day out of it.

I'll do it for you for $200!

DIY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Go to someone else's house and borrow their oil drain pan, a few tools and buy the fluids (LE607 for the diff, your choice of oil and a Honda filter). Go to Honda or order from Hardtopguy for the oil filter, and necessary drain plug(s). It'll save you $300.

Trust me, it's so easy to do, you'll wonder why anyone would consider paying that kind of money for "inspections" and two fluid changes (or three if you do the tranny fluid too!).

The other problem is that most dealers have no clue (and don't carry) the proper diff fluid for the car.

Fortunately my dealership did. I called and said, what diff fluid do you use in an S2000. The guy right away said straight 90w redline diff fluid, GL5.

I told him the horror story about the dealer who used the VTM in an S2000, and right away the guy said "oh hell no, that's for the mdx and pilot".

So I'm at least confident my dealership knows what he's doing.

By the way, I doubt I'd use the LE607 fluid, because from what I read from RR's post, it has too high a pour point. Below -11 F it gets too thick, and here in wisconsin, I hate to say, we definitely get temps below -11.

LE607 is a straight 90W like the Redline your dealership uses. I think maybe some 75W-90 would be more appropriate for your car since its used year-round.
