Dealers can purchase lower rates from banks, but somewhere or another the customer is going to pay for it.

There is something wonderful about simple interest - you can pay more monthly and knock out quite a bit of the acrued interest - even pay your car off sooner! A half point in interest on a car is not like a house, it really does not make a payment/residual go up much.
