250 Mile Day Trip - S2k or Prius?
I'm taking a 250 mile day trip by myself (fiancee working) on Saturday to visit my late wife's parents for lunch. The trip will be most all freeway. Forecast calls for clear weather & cool temps in the 50s & 60s. My new '05 S2k has 6,200 miles on it and had it's last oil change 11 months / 100 miles ago. All the other fluids haven't been touched since new and will be changed in the next few weeks. Would you take the S2k or the '11 Prius - which would be more comfortable, boring, and would get about 50 MPG?

Depends on the type of driving conditions for me. If I was just cruising the highway, I would go with the Prius. If I was taking Pacific Coast Highway or any other scenic route, I would take the S top down.
Other factors: how much do I need to fit in the S2000? Is it going to rain on my head and leather? etc.
Basically, if you're anywhere near optimum conditions take the S2000. Half the mpg, exponential fun.

If its not above 60 degrees, pretty much driving with top down on a highway isnt very pleasant after 30 minutes or so.
Weather above 60F s2k ALL DAY TOP DOWN
below 60F take the prius, driving at a steady rate in an enclosed s2000 with top up just sounds as exciting as driving a prius MINUS the gas mileage u won't be saving.
So prius in that case

I love driving the S. I don't use it for many road trips. I like the room of our legacy better.
I voted for the prius. I do have to wonder though, after 11 months of ownership why have you only driven 100 miles? Cars aren't bought to sit.

It sounds like he just bought the car and the previous owner had the oil changed 11 months ago, only put 100 miles on before selling it. I agree it was meant to be driven but I'd prefer the miles to be fun ones, save the boring stuff for a daily driver which is 10x more comfortable.
