Are 245/45/17's too big for the rear wheel wells, or for my 17x7 rims?

Are 245/45/17's too big for the rear wheel wells, or for my 17x7 rims?
Situation:
One of my rear tires had a problem a couple days ago, effectively making me miss my first day at my new job , and under the pressure of getting thing back in order, I ended up with new ZR-rated Dayton 245/45/17's in the back, compared to 235/40/17's Kumho's in the front.
Problem:
I'm feeling not-so-confident with these tires on, but I haven't been able to figure out why yet. My alignment is over-due, but I felt very confident with the last set of rears which were only half worn. After putting on these new rear's, I feel like the car floats a bit on the freeway (around town feels fine), and the car REALLY likes to track over grooves in the road now. Scary feeling sometimes.
So what do you think:
1) Are the tires too wide for the rims?
2) Have I severely messed up the front-back tire grip ratio?
3) Or is Dayton just a shitty brand of tire? (They look nice, but can't judge a tire by its tread it seems.)
Thanks for anyone's input!

Your tire group ratio is totally off...
If your running 17's, your tire options need to be one of the following...
option 1 - 245/40/17 rears and 225/45/17 fronts
option 2 - 245/45/17 rears and 225/50/17 fronts
option 3 - 225/45/17 rears and 205/50/17 fronts
This is effecting your ABS, and overall diameter as well...

Ok for 17 rims you should be around 245/40/17 or 255/40/17 in the back and 225/45/17 in the front.
this would account for almost all 17's in the back from 7 to 9 inches and 17's in the front from 6.5 to 8 inches.
Get that fixed steve...What tires sizes you have are not good for performance of the car.... It is not gonna hurt the car but you are losing performance.
Get Kuhmo MX...they are bang for the buck....or S03..but not so bang for the buck....

Thanks guys for chiming in -- I guess you all confirms my suspicion that these tires are not right for the car.... it just doesn't feel right at all.
So.... I just called and gonna get my new tires swapped back for some Kumho's. Stupid screw costing me so much money and time! Oh well. Thanks!

This is way off, if you wanna keep the stock S-02s ratio. The stock S-02s are 205 front and 225 rear, but actually it is closer to 205 front and 245 rear.
If you buy the S just for looks, I guess it is ok to use option 3.
I think 215 front 255 rear is the "best" combo for 17" wheels.
