All,
On Tirerack's site...the 245/45/16 S03's will be available from them on 7/13/01.
245/45/16 S03's
section width = 9.6
tread width = 9.1
diamter = 24.6
utg = 220
225/50/16 S03's
section width = 9.3
tread width = 8.3
diameter = 24.9
utg = 220
225/50/16 s02's W rated
section width = 9.2
tread width = 8.5
diamter = 24.8
utg = 140
Looks like the 245/45/16 S03's will have a decent tread width. They don't have as big of contact patches as the S02's...so they won't be as sticky; but, they will be alot better in the rain. Looks like the Bridgestone also rated the utg higher for the S03's...which should mean that they will last longer than the S02's.
Looks like it will be a good tire for the person who wants to sacrafice some performance for longer tread life and better wet weather characteristics compared to the stock S02's. The big plus is that the 245/45/16 S03 has a pretty wide tread with.

Phantom,
How do they compare price wise? Would you track this tire or reserve a set of S02's for this purpose?
Reedz,
How do you like these tires on the street after living with them for a few weeks?
Thanks!

honda_s2k,
The 245/45/16 S03's are $216 at tirerack.
You can definately use the S03's at a track event...but I perfer the stock S02's for an all out dry weather street tire.
S03's are a step lower in performance (grip), but better for persons who want better wet weather and longer lasting tread.
If the S03's came in 245/35/18...I would stick them on my Volks. The Volks I use for daily commute (245/35/18 Toyo T1-S), and the 225/50/16 S02's I use for weekend driving/autocross/race events.

Ok so my tires are going to be gone soon and I was going to replace them with S03's, but after reading info on them I want to stay with the oem S02's. Are they that hard to get?
I do not drive it in the rain or snow so I want max performance dry tire what do I do if the oem S02's are not available?
I know I could do a search but feeling a little lazy.
