Get a tube of Shin Estu grease from H&A. That should help out.

My '07 top doesn't make any noise, but my '02 did. Try putting the top down about half way. Inspect all of the contact points. See if there are any areas where there appears to be rubbing(bare metal exposed). If there is, take a piece of sticky felt from a fabric store, and place it on the rubbed area. Your problem sound a bit different, but it's worth a look.
THat might help. I will take a look this weekend.

My hardtop is on order. It is just the rattle over the driver side left ear..so annoying.

My miata tops don't rattle like the S2000, and the S2000 is 10k$ more

I have an 07' Berlina Black and my top (passenger side) started making noise about 1 week ago ( i have owned the car for like 2 months).

I believe i have Isolatad the problem.

It seems to be the TOP RELEASE LATCH(terminology??)
while it was making noise i pressed it in like i was going to unhook it and it stopped squeeking.

I have to do further investigation but i believe i have isolated the noise.

So check your Latch
