Were the rumors of the new 3 piece/folding Tonneau Cover exactly that???? A RUMOR!

 

It all started with a bad picture,....and from there,it went downhill,,,,

 

I saw the bad picture (Old cover at a deciving angle), but I there was a post that appeared way before the picture came out.

I think this dates back to the information honda distributed around the Frankfurt autoshow.

Has this been confirmed? The only true mention of it is the article that Peer just posted. I would imagine that even if its only avalible over seas, we would have seen some pictures of it by now.

 

It was indeed announced by Honda Europe as part of the Frankfurt show press pack in Nov, but then the S2000 on display at the show did not even have the standard tonneau on, and the Honda Press Announcements were later purged of the details. They now no longer mention this speedster tonneau. So who knows..

 

I think it got aborted at the last minute. My mom works for Honda, and she spoke with the Regional Sales Rep for me about this, and he has not heard anything about production. I think it got aborted at the last minute.

Rick's was supposed to be making one (3-piece as well), but put a hold on production as the rumors of the Honda one flew about. Now that the MY06's are out and there is no speedster cover in sight, I spoke with him about a month ago and he said they were moving it back towards production. Maybe Rick or Stratocastor can shed some light on this topic for us. All I know is what Rick has told me via email (I came up with the idea to apply something like the Racing Beat Miata cover to teh S2000 and presented it to him in June).
