When people are swapping S2000 engines into Miatas..what does that tell you?

Like most people here, I think the Miata is a great car (and I agree that if it weren't for the Miata reinvigorating the roadster market there would be no S).
I've driven both, and would be plenty happy with a Miata. But, I wouldn't trade my S for a Miata. I did consider getting an older Miata w/mods as a strictly track vehicle since the S is my daily driver and that makes me hesitate to get 100% out of the S at the track. In the end garage space decided for me, I modded' the S (which was significantly more expensive than getting an older track ready Miata).
I know it's not much, but I wouldn't want a newer S because I like revving all the way to 9200 RPMS. Silly I know, but my smile would be a little less manic at only 8200 RPM.
Final thought; when I shopped for a new car, I test drove the Toyota MR2 spyder, the Audi TT Turbo (1.8, every option) and the S. I'd driven Miatas, and liked them a lot. But never considered one as my next car for some reason...

Hi! Chris,
If it is not for M3forums, I wouldn't be here dreaming about S2K. I never heard anything negative about S2K in M3forums.All M3 owners like to own S2K and all S2K owners like to own M3.
Infact I admire people who owns S2K. They are real sports car enthusiasts (one exception is the guy who compares Miatas with Civics) . Some of the M3 owners call themselves sports car enthusiasts and hide behind the technology to save their a*s.
All I wanted is a fun car with good handling which can be driven on a daily basis. Coming from 1998 Honda accord, I am sure the torque of S2K is more than enough to satisfy me.
I probably end-up with S2K this spring, but I would like to compare them before I take decision, including test drives.
Thanks
Kalyan

Hi to all,
Excellent thoughts. Thank you.
I beleive I wont go wrong whatever I pick between these two cars. If I dont pick S2K, I am sure I will regret it later. Because its appealing to me more than any other car at this time. I never frequented Miata forums and not even did a search about miata in this s2k forum before I posted the question. I only wanted to know what S2K owners feel about miata and its been mostly positive. Still S2K is the way to go for me. Even if few people think its outdated, for me it looks HOT. I rarely see them on street and definitely I would like belong to that exclusive club. Hopefully soon I will post the pic of new 2006 S2K here in this great forum.
Thanks
Kalyan

i actully sat on new mx5 today. my gf was filling up gas at the sam's club and they actually have mx5 for display. i thought the doors were locked but hell it was open. so i sat on it. seats aren't as snuggling as s2000. cuz of that it kinda felt roomy. and that thing has 4 CUP HOLDERS! wtf! 2 seater car and 4 cup holders? acura rsx have 5 and it's 4 seater car and i thought that was alot but 4 cup holders? of course i didn't get to drive it since it was sitting at sam's club gas station. everything felt really solid. that's all i gotta say.
