I had a deposit on an '06 MX5, but canceled it after I got an '05 S2K. Why? Apart from my already having an older Miata, I felt the S2K was a much better value for the money. Better build quality, better materials, better technology, better performance, etc. If your commute is any thing like mine, i.e., lots of traffic and low average speeds, it won't make a bit of difference which you go with. Just get what strikes your fancy.

drive both, if it wasn't for the miata there would be no S2000, Z3/4, Boxster, Solstice.

They each have great aspects, the more you pay the more you get in the roadster world.
not necessarily.Everyone knows that the Z and boxster are not up to par with the S(But that badge on the hood reflects another bump of 10-15grand).and every competition/comparison test also has the S def. ahead of them..
plain n simple, the S is for someone who knew exactly what they were getting before they got it(no long comparison and research, cause they already were enthusiasts)hard to explain, but 95% of S owners know what I mean.

I currently have an 03' VW gti 1.8t and it is a pretty sporty car but I have never considered it a sports car. Very nice daily, with decent handling braking power ect... But i want another sports car went and drove an S for the first time and OMG when i got back into my gti it felt like driving a jeep. Infact the S changed my definition of what a "sports car" should feel like.

(one exception is the guy who compares Miatas with Civics)
i never compared the miata to a civic. What i was trying to explain is that the miata and the S2000 are 2 different class of cars and cannot be fairly compared. thus the civic to s2000 phrasing i used.

ive driven the miata and its great little car, but the S hands down takes the pot in the comparison between the 2.

and as far as me not being an enthusiast ive been in the scene a good while now.

The boxster is not on par with the S?

Last time I checked the Boxster is all that the S2000 is and then some more. If I had the money I would be driving a Boxster S instead of an S2000.

The S2000 is turning into the NSX thanks to Honda. The engine gets bumped .2, the wheels, and a few interior tidbits here and there... I would go with a 2000-2003 S2000, but after seeing the updates to it in 2004, I'll take the boxster which keeps getting bumps in power.

You also mention that the "stats" are better in the S... umm ok let's all drop are S2000's at 6+k on the tach to get those times. We won't be able to do it all day.

Badge or not, I'll take the better car.

Boxster S for the better interior, daily drive, resale, more space, creature comforts (if you need them).

To each his own.

I hate to ruin this thread, but don't take my word about the Boxster S buddy:
