2006 Intake solutions?

But we are unsure of the piping size or diameter of the Intake Simulator. I was saying that assuming it is the same as the AEM, the actual results of the simulator can be taken at face value. If the piping was smaller or bigger however, the results would not be accurate. Knowing Church however, I know he wouldn't slap a filter on any kind of pipe and claim it to be a intake simulator.

The fact that we didn't know any details of the pipe was exactly what I was saying so I'm not sure what caused this side conversation.

Since this seems like a generic item they use, I doubt they did anything special for the S.

I must respecfully disagree that one can install any CAI and accurately measure its effect without first making or allowing time for the ECU adjust for the different amount of air entering the fuel/air mixture on which the car runs. If the CAI is truly allowing for the intake of cooler air, it is more dense than the hot air the stock intake ingests from the engine bay. The ECU must adjust for that. And, the stock intake horn on our cars has only about a 7 sq. in. cross section at the smallest point. This compares with a cross section of over 20 sq. in. on my 3.2 liter Mercedes, that also red lines at only 6K rpm. So if a particular CAI is of the "open filter element" design, or otherwise eliminates this intake restriction, the ECU must adjust itself for proper fuel/air mix with the increased air that is available. If the CAI design provides a ram air effect, it becomes even more important that the ECU first adjust before any measurements are taken --- and even then the flowing air must be provided by more than a Mickey Mouse fan for the test.

If an ECU is properly adjusted for what is IMO a very restricted and very hot air intake that is stock on the s2k, its fuel/air mixture will be way off immediately after adding a less restrictive and cooler air intake. And an improper fuel/air mix is a real performance killer. Again, before any CAI can be effective, the ECU must be adjusted as per xviper's advice, or by several weeks of driving the car.
