Default 2006 Intake solutions?

Hey,

Ive read through lots of the threads on here about intake solutions etc etc. Ive ordered the 2006 S2k and am waiting for her to arrive. But I want to know if there is any point in replacing the OEM air filter with an aftermarket filter?

I dont want to go down the route of cutting anything nor adding a cold air intake because ive read about the cutting required to fit it and hydro-lock.

Is it worth dropping in a filter to replace the OEM filter? If so which is a good/best option. Will there be a significant noise difference i.e. louder/sound nicer? I dont care about power gains but dont want a power loss.

Lastly do exsisting filters (for the 05) fit the 06?

Thanks once again for your help!

Get a JR Filter;it's the best filter out there.

Ok, but does the JR filter fit the 06? and is there a noticable difference in the sound over stock?

Air filter mounting stud has changed, the air filter from a 00-05 will not fit properly in the 06 airbox according to the Notes: UTH changes on the 06 2000. I don

I wouldn't change the OEM filter. Have you seen it? It looks pretty much like a K&N filter--coned shaped. Don't bother messing with your intake at this time.

I have the same thing with a K&N, and yes it does work great.

I changed my air filter from stock to a K&N early on in my ownership of my '01. Just as a test, I blew into the 3" hole on both the OEM and the K&N elements. There was much less air resistance on the K&N, which would seem to translate into better induction. A change which involves only a K&N air filter element will not result in much of a change in sound. Won't result in any great increase in performance, either, though it will help out here a little. The biggest improvement I noticed was that my fuel economy increased consistently from .5 mpg to 1 mpg both city and highway. With gas prices as they are, that may be reason enough to change.

Thanks,
Richard

Let me add this...I can't speak on MY00-05 S2000s, but if you go with a CAI on the MY06 you will loose ~7rwhp (peak). You do gain a few ponies and torque around 4000-6000, but you suffer up top.
