This has been rumoured in other threads here, but it may just be that a new part number hasn't been assigned yet. Get them to order you one for an '04. Shouldn't be any difference as long the color is not a new one.

Newly ordered '05? Or did you mean '06? I thought '05s had hardtops available. If that's the case, get them to order you one for an '05.

Yeah, Jeff mentioned that Honda is temporarily stopping production for some odd reason. They will start again. In the meantime, hardtopguy.com is your best bet. I'd call him just to make sure of what he has.

BTW, I've also heard that Honda is changing some things with the OEM hardtop. Perhaps that's why production is shut down now. The part number will probably be different as well.

I called honda a couple month ago.... and they tranfered me to a couple people..
one person said the plant burnt down..

Then called back and got a better answer... from 2 different people..
they moved the plant and stopped producing for a couple months
now the shortage

The answers I got was from Honda in Torrance.... so take it with a grain of salt and a flag

it seem they could have move and created a shortage...

I wish they would be 2000 or 2500 max....$3000 is a rip off

Actually, I think the fire thing is true. I've heard claims about a fire in the factory since last year. Of course, that was suppose to have added to the problem then. I don't think that has anything to do with the production now. Probably just a move. Either way, they picked a helluva time to do it. Winter is coming and people are going to want hardtops. Resale is probably going to be close to retail.

I heard the fire story about a year ago, when there was a shortage of some hardtop colors. I don't know if it was true then or now, but doubt that the plant burned down twice in as many years.

$3000 is still an ok price. Try buying one in 2000-2001. $3599 out the door. A lot of you newer owners have almost gotten parts handed to you at huge discounts and yet you still complain... I understand the cars been out for 5 years but prices on parts have really gone down. Thats good for some and not for others.

How much is the factory hardtop weight anyway? because you can get the real mugen hardtop (not CF one) for around $2800 and it weights 44 lbs. I also think it looks better than the factory one. IMHO.
