If you want to keep your S2000 stock, get an 05. If you want mods, get an 06.
Isnt that the other way around...?

I have an 06 .. i suggest you get an 04. More mod friendly.. i am tempting to SC it but there is barely anything . and DBW is annyong at times.

There are already people on these forums that are boosted and doing fine. The reason why the car doesn't specifically have turbo kits out yet is because you need to give it time. Greddy already came out with a kit but they are still only working out the bugs. Any new car that comes out is not going to have the aftermarket selection that an older car has (eg. 05 and prior). And as far as power... 06 have proven to make more power than prior models and respond very well to aftermarket parts. Making a lot of power in NA form is very possible with the 06.

I would get the 06. The DBW has nothing to do with anything because it is like driving a car with a cable. I've driven an AP1 and you won't even notice the difference. What you are saying is annoying is the Clutch Delay Valve (which 04 and 05 have), which can be removed.

Haha - Yes. I am re-re early in the AM.

If you want to keep your S2000 stock buy a 2006. If you want to modify, buy a 2005.

I noticed the only people pushing for the 06+ are 06+ owners. Haha.

And the only ones pushing for the prior 06's are the the owners of prior 06's.

How about this... go test drive an 04 or 05 and then an 06 or 07 and see whichever you like.

You shouldn't go off of what is available now for mods because the DBW system is fairly new and the aftermarket companies need time for research and development.

That said... let us know what you choose.

If I were looking I'd buy the 06 simply because of the VSA. I didn't like the 06 seats at first but they grew on me. I like the 05 wheels a bit better but the 06's are fine. If my MY04 gets replaced, it will be with a MY06 or later.

but i am not 100% sold on the DBW throttle system since it is relatively new on hondas.
DBW is not new to Honda at all. It is in the NSX. they just got lazy and decide to let the computer work out the rest. hahahha

To me the NEWER the BETTER!!!

I was in the same dilemna you were in. I was stuck between getting a 04-05 vs a 06. I went with the 06 because of the reprogrammable ECU. I wasn't going to do anything crazy to the car, just the basic, intake/exhaust/test pipe/header and then a reflash from Hondata. I do like the 04-05 rims though. If you do go with 04-05 you save roughly 4-5k which can be put into your turbo/SC setup

The other factor is the low milage. I picked my 06 with only 400 miles on the clock

The clutch delay does get annoying. You do notice DBW on occassion. I used to have a 02 S2K and it was never a slight delay. Now sometime I notice the slight delay but it isn't bad.

Whatever you choose, its still an S2K

That slight delay that you are feeling is not the DBW... it's the Clutch Delay Valve.

The only time you will feel a delay from the DBW is when the VSA kicks on because it senses tire slippage or senses the car losing control.
