ITR makes a good case. This is not like a Corvette with factory gears below 3.00, where the leap to the 3.73's made the car dramatically hotter. But that had plenty more engine than gearing - in the S2000, especially below VTEC, we have a lot more gearing than engine. So it is logical to address the "more engine part", and the more I read and think about it, that means power adders: turbo or SC.
