2003 - Price
#21
I really, really, really get tired of this lecture but let me try it once again:
MSRP IS MEANINGLESS.....REPEAT MEANINGLESS!!!MEANINGLESS
Unless your paying cash that is.....
The base price of the car comes in third place folks. Dealers make much more on the financing (#1) and trade in (#2). Every time I see a thread like this I just cringe. I grew up next door to the owners of the largest Toyota Dealer in California (Longo) when I was in high school. I was schooled well.....just can't figure out why this is so hard to get through to others?

Maybe its hard to get through to others because we know at this point:
A- you come to the dealer with your own financing, always
B- If you trade-in, you don't reveal a trade-in until after you have already negotiated price and you check your trade-in value in advance- if they offer less than the reasonable market value, you high tail it to the next dealer in your area.
I was just assuming this is well known by now. The only thing left at that point is MSRP.

It is like poker never reveal your cards till the end - but I can tell you there are numerous dealers selling below msrp - - one is $300.00 below = $32560.00, another just emailed today $32k with rear spoiler, cover and locks and third one is $31,999.00. Heck the dealer is paying $29 600 or something close to that plus he has the rebate from the mfger which they say is like another 3%.
Will wait till next week to sign and let them all sit the weekend out. 2002 are out - they are as some one noted a year ol;d in my mind when I fgo to sell dn the road compared to 03.
What are others out there seeing for pricing?? Was just looking in paper 66 vette for $36k just wondering what the vette will be worth 5 years compared to the s2000 - what you think??

If you're looking for a daily driver the S2000 is the way to go. If you're looking for an investment find a corvette with correct numbers and plan on just driving it to shows. I went through the same thought and decided on an S2000. I want a car I can drive that won't cost a fortune on upkeep.

heh, if you want a daily driver, get a Camry, Acura CL, or maybe an Infinity G45. I've had opportunity recently to drive my S2K to work regularly (because my wife drives the Camry and my Celica air conditioning is broken). Its not fun driving through stop and go traffic for 50 minutes, never getting above 45 MPH in the S2000. Its tolerable in the Camry though.
But noone can say what car will be worth what 30 years down the road. But you'd be better off collecting a NSX for future value and rarity.

Whatever the price you want to pay on the S2000 is up to you. I bought my 2001 when they were asking quite a bit over invoice, so consider anything you get under that a good deal. As for the comments regarding the 350z coming out in October, my local dealer already received their initial 7, and they're running around on the street. What an awesome car!
