I think they'll continue the model, even if it is not the most profitable one they make. Honda gets a LOT of press from the S. And it will only get better. Remember how each Prelude kept getting cooler after the first one (which is still cool imo)...though confess I don't much care for the last 2 'ludes. No offense, owners! My color vote is for imola orange.

Really. . . I'm not taking offense but I really liked the last Prelude generation. Guess because it reminded me so much of my '88 Prelude Si 4WS.

I loved my '88 Prelude and I always thought this latest generation of Prelude looked like a refreshed version of the '88 - '91 generation.

spa is a nice colour IMHO and it is saddening to see it go. However, I'm really curious as most of you, on this "all new" 2005 ? I hope Honda will keep production numbers down so the s2000 does not become a "dime a dozen" or too common like the boxster or the what the 350Z is going to become in another year or two.

I think the concept of the car keeps the numbers down. This car is born and bread for drivers. Lack of luxury components, cost, and of course keeping the numbers down, are all reasons why this car is so great. I hope they build on what they have, keep it in the same price range.

It wasn't an inline 5 it was a V5....yes I said V5.

I expect Honda might evolve our current 2.0L into an i-VTEC version. That would give the car more low-end power, but it also would take away some of the rush (from what I've heard about i-VTEC).

STL. It is not possible to have a V5. You need opposing pistons on each side to make a V configuration work. It was an inline 5.

I just found this on the internet (about 5 years old) after doing a quick search:

These are the first (scoop) photographs of the SSX, the production version of the SSM.
Acc. to "Autocar ", the SSX will be equipped with a new 2L V5 engine with about 200HP ( dohc VTEC of course ). Body will be ( partly ) aluminium with suspension parts of aluminium too ( like the NSX ). The weight is said to be less than 1000kg for a true sports car power to weight ratio of better than 200HP/tonne.
Transmission is said to be either 6 speed manual or 5-speed semi auto ( Tiptronic ).
The styling of the SSM is for the most part retained, although some modifications are necessary like the headlights, bumpers etc. The massive roll over bars behind the seats are also retained.
The SSX is also said to be equipped with all the goodies : traction control, LSD ( lim. slip diff. ), drive by wire throttle system etc.
The compact V5 engine will be installed behind the the front axle line for an almost 50/50 weight distribution. The SSX will be Honda's first front engine rear wheel drive ( RWD ) car ever and will be followed by a number of hot BMW killer RWD models ( a.o. the AAS ) in the near future.
Price of the hi-tec SSX will be in the region of $ 30-35K ( Acura class ? ) i.e. rather expensive, but still less so than the rivals SLK, Boxter and Z3.
