Default 2002 Rear glass on 2001 S2K

Hey guys,

I want to get the glass rear that comes with the new 2002 stooks and install it in mine (2001). Is this possible? Anyone else thinking the same thing? Maybe a GB for all who is interested if this conversion is possible?

This has been discussed here previously. The consensus is that not only is the window different, but the top (frame) is also. A changeout would require fitting a whole new roof, a fairly cost-prohibitive proposition. I only wish it were as easy a simply installing the glass.

Per Woodwork, a Honda engineer, the complete top and frame must be replaced if you want to install the OE new glass rear window. He noted, the glass is larger than half of the vinyl. It actually doesn't seem much smaller when driving. The frame does fold a little differently and the glass sits in the rear tray at an angle, not flat like the folding vinyl window. Early estimates from some club members are about 2-days labor, i.e. $1,100 or so plus parts. Hopefully, Woodwork or someone can confirm the costs.

Please send me any information you may have regarding the top with the glass window. I'm in the process of replacing the ENTIRE TOP because of someone's stupid mistake.

Thanks -

It isn't cheap to replace the top. Just the frame and new top for MY2002 (not including all the weather stripping, molding, etc.) has a suggested retail of about $2450.
