2002 3rd gear notch?
#12
Hey fellow 02 owners!
I also experienced the 2-3 shift 'bump'... It feels like there's something in the way on the right side of the slot. Like I'm hitting a little tab as it slides into 3rd. I thought it was normal but then again...why would it be normal? As for engine temperature, I'll have to monitor it as I never thought about it until now that this issue has been brought up.
Very interesting.

Just a very tiny, subtle notchy feeling going from 2nd to 3rd. It has been there from the beginning, and has not changed over the 4300 miles. There is no noise or significant increase in resistance, just a feeling like there is a slight 'rough spot' on that shift. Doesn't seem to matter whether the engine is warm or cold, but this is South Carolina, and there won't be anything here even remotely resembling cold weather for another 5 months.

I also noticed that there's a slight "whine" when I take off. It's a pleasant sound...not bad at all. Just wondering if this is normal. Also a bit of a 'scratching' sound when taking off from low speed, or slowing down. Yes, I'm very observant
Anyone else get these tranny symptoms?

I have an '02 and I am experiencing the same exact thing. I would think it's just the synchronization cones doing their job. Note that when you rev the engine higher before shifting, the notchy feeling is almost undetectable, in which case I suspect the cones have less compensating to do.

i have 1400 on my 02 and into every gear i get this feeling in the pedal and slight sound. Almost like a rubbing, like i can not shift fast enough. As i lift the pedal it just feels as if the cltuch is not fully engaged, like if i shifted faster it would not tdo it. Thing is no matte rhow fast i shift it still feels this way. I wouldn't worry about it if you don't have it from the get go. As the cones doing their job, mine is still the same if I rev higher and shift to 3rd. Some people have it and some don't so it isn't by design. I am just concerned that this hitting of the gate or whatever it is will cause wear.
